How he saved Boston.
Was a show on tonight vh1...I never knew any of this, I guess I was too young. Its a documentary about when Martin Luther King was assassinated. And all the riots were going on..People just in mourning everywhere and the anger levels insane...Rightfully so. Well James Brown was scheduled to play in Boston that night or the next day...The city of Boston wanted to shut the show down bc of the potential for violence (and ignorance)...Our Mayor at the time insisted the show go on or the racial tension would increase and the city would be outta control. Well I guess James Brown worked with the city, the show was a major success and Boston remained calm during that horrid time in history. The city also made the decision for the first time ever to televise the concert to try to keep people home..And they gave people refunds that didnt want to go...James Brown made no money off of this show whatsoever, and the city of Boston promised to get him some cash. Ha, they showed the tickets and they cost 3.50, 4.50 and 5.50... Can you imagine? James Brown live at that show was amazing! Sorry for the rant...I really enjoyed this show. It really takes ya back and then ya realize how bad things really were not to long ago,,,and how far we still need to get. |
