Well, the few tracks I've heard so far (besides 'Girlfriend') I haven't really liked. I'll probably still buy the album when it comes out, but I don't know if I'll rush out like I'd planned to or not...

huh. i dont really like that girlfriend song, it just sounds so bubblegum pop and like it belongs on her first album. i hope shes got some better stuff. its good and all it just sounds like amatuer and more of an aaron carter song.

I think the video is kinda funny, but it's not really Avril. I don't really like her new direction she's taking. I mean, she breaks into an all out dance number in the bridge... C'mon Avril! She used to talk about Britney Spears and "other pop acts", and now she's really no different.

Just watched the video for the first time and have nooo idea what to make of it, lol.

Avril Lavigne is ready to release her new album, The Best D.AMN Thing, and says that the recording process was the most fun she'd ever had making a record. Speaking to MTV News, the Canadian Pop star said, "This record, I've never had so much fun in the studio. We would order food five times a day and totally pig out. We'd be drinking. I wrote [the new single] 'Girlfriend' when I was drunk." Lavigne added that she wrote and recorded many of the songs quickly right in the studio. "With my new song 'Girlfriend,' the second I was singing the melody, the lyrics were coming out: 'I don't like your girlfriend,' " Lavigne said. "The chorus was written in two minutes. It took nothing. And what's really cool about 'I Can Do Better' is we wrote it, and then I just ran into the booth, and I sang. I laid down the verse, and ... we just used my demo [take]. It was totally different — so much fun!" However, she says that she didn't delve too much into her personal life and that most of the new tunes are works of fiction, which also helped with the fast-paced recording process. "Some of the songs I wrote didn't even mean that much to me," Lavigne told MTV. "It's not like some personal thing I'm going through. They're just songs." Thanks for posting that. I don't see the big deal. I think the song is fun AND I think she deserves to do a fun album for a change and not get the oh she sold out and is Britney now. Her dance act in the video is hardly the same as "Britney" type. Not dissing those that feel it's "not" her, BUT maybe it is her but a different side of her. A fun side. It's ok to be a bit more pop at times. um...I hate to say this and you might shoot me, but Thanx on Now What is a little close to "pop" and Lisa may not dance in any of her videos haha, but Lisa did admit that thanx was probably the closest to a pop song on her album. So it's ok every now and again to go a tad "poppy". Sorry I just don't see why it's "not her". I wouldn't want an artist to do the same things over and over with each album. It'd get boring. I think it's fantastic she wrote most songs drunk haha. It's great she had fun. A fan felt that girlfriend could be about Paris Hilton and Avril's now husband. Because Paris had dated him before Avril got together with him. Well I guess this proves that fan's theory wrong since no songs were personal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Automatic. Imagine. I believe. Jared Leto could be my father if he had knocked up a girl at age 12! He loves his 45s. |

I bought and listened to this cd alot this weekend. From a person that completely loved Avril's last cd, I am dissapointed. Avril has turned into a cussing cheerleader...the cussing I can handle...the cheerleader I can't! I still need to listen some more, but for the most part I am not digging it.

Having now listened to the whole album ..i have to say that i really really like it. It's fun.. nothing more to it, it's just plain fun!
And hey, anything that brings my youth group out of its shell like that did can't be bad =] i will say though that my favourite track is probably 'Runaway' which is probably more typically Avril than most of the album ~Ches xo Wake up. I like Girlfriend but only because it gets stuck in my head and has a catchy tune
 But other than that song I haven't heard the rest of the CD... Oh and hey Jax <3Start again, with a brand new name.... |
