I have loved Matina McBride's music for years! I saw her in concert when she first started, she opened for somebody (can't remember who..lol) and did like a half hour set. That was the only time I had seen her live. For whatever reason I just haven't gone to her concerts, even tho she has played around here lots over the years. She was in town last night and my sister got free tickets at the last minute. It was at a big old college basketbal arena and we were in the nose bleed area in the back. But let me tell ya it was a freakin awesome show!! Big Grin Wow can this lady sing!!! She sounds just like she does on her records! She blew me away!

She came out early after a short opening act. She did about an hour of songs from her new cd of country standards called "Timeless". I'm a country fan so I knew most of the songs. You could tell the audience enjoyed it and she got several standing ovations. She sang stuff like Help me Make it Through the Night, You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and a killer version of Tammy Wynettes Stand By Your Man!! Which isnt on the cd Frowner

She was dressed in a pretty yellowish/gold dress and then changed into a long black gown. They showed pictures on the screens of the orginal artists songs as she sang them. It was very old school country, but very cool!

Then after about a short intermission she came back and sang her hits! She had a real cool outfit, very hip, very rock! Black tee with a cool design, black short jacket, chain hanging off it, cool design on the back, greyish, black gaucho pants on (do they still call them that?)
She looked great! She sang for about an hour and ten minutes belting out hit after hit! She really rocked the place and the audience was on their feet for most of the show! During her song Happy Girl she yelled out "Chicago loves a happy girl"...the problem was she was in Cleveland! Eeker Eeker Ha! Not sure if she realized it immediately, she then went right into Concrete Angel which is a very intense song about child abuse, they also showed the video for this song, it's a real tear j.erker. Martina sounded amazing! After that she aplogized for saying the wrong city, she said something like "I am so sorry! That's the first time I have done that in 14 years of singing!" She said she "wasn't even drinking" and that she was "mortified and felt like throwing up"! It was funny, the poor thing!! Smiler The audience forgave her. She sang lots more hits Broken Wing ,When God Fearin Women Get the Blues,on and on. My favorite was Whatever You Say! Man she sang the h.ell out of that song! if you've never heard it, check it out! It's awesome! She ended with Independence Day! Love it! She came back for one encore. Somewhere Over the Rainbow, it was beautiful! The audience gave her a great standing ovation, screaming and cheering. She was guinely touched and was crying when she walked off the stage! What a great show!! Not only will I never miss another Martina show in my area, I am ready to take a road trip to see her again! Go see her if you have the chance, you won't regret it! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

we saw her when she opened for Garth Brooks about a gazillion years ago. . .actually it was about 14 years ago. . . Smiler

We'd love to see her again. We just watched her "Crossroads" with Pat Benatar a few nights ago--for about the 10th time.

Sounds like it was a great show!! Wink

Hey Lil Smiler
I think you would like her Greatest Hits cd, lots of good ones on there. I think she's similar to Carrie Underwood, and I know you like her cd! Smiler

Thats great! I saw Martina in January here in Richmond. I think it was her second show on the tour. She was great. Really got the crowd into it!
