this is the only thing I found on the new CD, looks like its being pushed back a bit... bummer!
:/ Belgium's Studio Brussel caught up with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich at the 2007 Rock Werchter Festival over the weekend, where he talked about the band's forthcoming album. Lars said the backing tracks were done in May and will start vocals and overdubs in August hoping to finish in October or November. Lars predicted the album will drop in February 2008. He said, "It doesn't sound like 'St. Anger' to me. It's a little early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything like 'St. Anger'. It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it. I don't know." Ulrich said not to read into talk of Eastern influences like a 'Kashmere', but there's some stuff. Metallica will perform a pair of rare acoustic sets at the 2007 edition of Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit Concert, which will take place October 27 and 28 in Mountain View, CA. The two-day lineup also includes John Mayer, Tom Waits, and Eddie Vedder playing with Chili Peppers bassist Flea and drummer Jack Irons. Started by Neil and Peggy Young, the Bridge School is a non-profit organization assisting individuals with severe speech and physical impairments. "We are honored that we have been invited to appear at the annual Bridge School Benefit concerts," notes Metallica on their Web site. METALLICA eyes February 2008 for CD release
Lars Ulrich spoke to the San Francisco Examiner about the state of the new Metallica album, revealing that the eagerly anticipated record should be out in February. The band will work on vocal mixes for the record into February, though there are no set song titles, just place holders such as "19," "10," "Glass Cow" and "Black Squirrel." As for the choice of working with Rick Rubin instead of Bob Rock, Ulrich said, "For our own sanity, our own creative survival, we needed to work with a different set of circumstances and dynamics. So we've been stripped of our defense mechanisms, and it's been very invigorating to be challenged again.
