Gwen Stefani will release her second solo record, The Sweet Escape, on December 5, according to AOL Music, which also has debuted her new single, "Wind It Up." You can hear the "Hollaback"-esque, Sound Of Music-referencing tune, produced by Pharrell Williams, here. Stefani called Ryan Seacrest on KIIS/Los Angeles this morning to debut the tune and revealed she plans to kick off a new solo tour in April, and will bring son Kingston along for the ride.

ya i'm not sure about that Jeff.... here's some NEW INFO about this CD though!

Yesterday, Gwen Stefani unveiled her new single, "Wind It Up," and officially confirmed that her second solo album would be out on December 5. Now Stefani has revealed more about The Sweet Escape, the follow-up to her smash hit Love, Angel, Music, Baby.

"This album is surprisingly different than the last one," Stefani said in a statement. "I started recording it last year before [my son] Kingston was born and it's definitely evolved over the last year. The dance sound is very 'now.' It's modern... not so retro."

As previously revealed, the album's genesis came from a handful of songs that were left over from the L,A,M,B recording sessions. Songs written with Linda Perry such as "Fine By You" and "Wonderful Life For Him," which MTV.com reports features Martin Gore of Depeche Mode on guitar, didn't make the cut for L,A,M,B but will appear on the new record. Also on The Sweet Escape are "Parental Advisory" and "You Started It," which were also recorded a few years back.

However, half the album is made up of new tunes that were cut over the past year and a half, primarily with Pharrell Williams, who produced "Wind It Up." Stefani told KIIS/Los Angeles about the Sound Of Music sampling single yesterday, explaining that "I had my friend do a mash-up of The Sound Of Music with 'Wind It Up,' which we had just written for the first L.A.M.B. fashion show. It was always a dream of mine to put Sound Of Music to a beat, because it was my favorite movie. I just thought, 'Wow, that would be amazing.' I literally cried, and I'm not exaggerating, when I heard the mash-up. And here we are, a year later, and it's the first single. Life is weird."

MTV reports that some of Gwen's other collaborators on The Sweet Escape include Akon, Swiss Beatz, Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane and naturally, her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal. She also credits her mother Patti with some of the lyrics to the new tune "Orange County Girl."

Gwen's Harajuku Lovers Live DVD will also be released on December 5.

I'll check it out. I wonder if it will be as commercial as her first solo cd? Don't get me wrong, it had some good songs, but it felt like one big commerical for her clothing line, and other products. Also very high school, from a chick that was long past high school! Hollaback Girl was huge, but come on, your in your 30's sister! The only song that blew me away was What You Waiting For. But props to her for making a huge selling cd in this day and age!

Thanx Lil for the info! You rock!!! Big Grin

Gwen returns to NO DOUBT

As Gwen Stefani readies for next month's release of her second solo disc, The Great Escape, she says that her next musical move will likely be back to her old bandmates in No Doubt. "I can't predict anything, but I don't plan on making another one of these solo dance-project records," she told MTV Europe recently. "I definitely feel myself going back to No Doubt after this to do a No Doubt record." Gwen also revealed that there are still more new solo tracks lying around. "There's probably about 10 leftovers... You can always use them for something at some point, or I could just listen to them myself and be greedy."
