anybody as old as i am 52 who grew up with the Monkees?! I was 12 in 1966 when i discoverd them! I was so stoked about these guys! First it was Elvis! then The Beatles and then The Monkees! The Monkees were so cool, I had to have every teen mag with them, and bought(or rather my mom)bought for me their album!
There show was halarious for the era! I still love listening to their music, that's what makes me young! anyways just wondering if i'm the only Monkees fan on here?

They were a TV show. They had some great writers and musicians who played for them. They were sort of The Milli Vanilli of their time. The only real musician was Michael Nesmith, who was with Linda Ronstadt and The Stone Ponies, and had a hit with "Different Drum". The other guys were actors, not musicians. Hollywood was just making a TV show based on The Beatles.

They were TV actors.

Please, don't even compare them with The Beatles. They had great writers and musicians to play for them. The only musician in the band was Michael Nesmith, they were the Milli Vanilli of the 60's

Monkee Trivia:
1/ Michael Nesmith's mom invented "white out."
B/ Thankfully, Stephen Stills was turned down as a Monkee.
3/ A young guitarist opened for them on their first tour, Jimi Hendrix!
