Sheryl Crow will release her next album, Detours, on February 5, 2008. The first single, "Shine Over Babylon," is already at radio and available for sale at iTunes. Crow told Billboard.com this summer that the song 'is very environmentally conscious, in the tradition of Bob Dylan.'
"I'm really encouraging artists to write about what's going on, because we seem to be very distracted by some lightweight topics," she added. I think it's time to start writing about the reality of what's around us. I don't believe anyone would argue that these are complicated and troubling times we are navigating through," Crow explains about the new song on her Web site. "At any given moment, I find myself in a real panic about the future of humanity. 'Shine Over Babylon' is in every way a desperate cry for understanding. Perhaps it is even a battle song in the face of fear." Detours was recorded at Crow's Nashville farm and will feature 14 or 15 tracks, one of which features her baby son, Wyatt, according to Billboard.com. The tune "Lullaby for Wyatt" also will be featured in the upcoming movie Grace Is Gone.

Ahh yes, Sheryl Crow has been a big influence in my life since I was 13. Twelve years later...I cannot WAIT to hear the rest of this album. I've heard "Shine Over Babylon" a few times over on the WXPN local Philadelphia station, and I am enamored with it for so many reasons.

Sheryl Crow will release her new album, Detours, on February 5, and while making the record, she surprised a former collaborator with a phone call. Crow famously had a falling out with the musicians who recorded her breakthrough record, Tuesday Night Music Club, after the success of her debut. Producer Bill Bottrell called Crow "hopeless" and "obnoxious" in a Rolling Stone interview in the mid-'90s.

However, Crow buried the hatchet with Bottrell last summer while working on Detours. "He said, ‘I’ve been waiting years for this call,'" Crow told Rolling Stone. "It was a sweet homecoming for the both of us." Crow and Bottrell recorded 24 songs in about a month and a half in Crow's Nashville home. She says the adoption of her son Wyatt inspired her songwriting this time. "I couldn’t write fast enough - having this tiny, innocent spirit made me fearless," she says. "I felt a sense of urgency to write about what’s really happening."

Detours includes the political "God Bless This Mess," the lead single "Love Is Free" and "Diamond Ring," of which Crow jokingly notes, "All I can say is that I’ve been ­engaged three times. So I have a thing about diamonds."

Crow currently has three concerts on tap: two appearances in New York City on February 6 and 7 and one in Los Angeles on March 11.

Sheryl Crow will take over Sirius' The Spectrum (channel 18) for five days, beginning Monday, February 4. Her new album, Detours, arrives in stores the following day. Sheryl Crow's Spectrum will include the singer playing her favorite music and discussing her new album in-depth. There will also be live performances from Crow of her new material as well as many hits.

Sheryl Crow may soon be singing with Fleetwood Mac, who hasn’t gone on tour since 2004. Upon the departure of Christine McVie in 1998, Stevie Nicks had said she was unwilling to continue touring without her. However, Crow will keep the band alive, saying she would like to perform “The Chain” and “Second Hand News” with her longtime friends, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.


Crow told AOL Music’s spinner.com, “I don't want to make any official announcements, but I will say that we definitely have plans for collaborating in the future, and we'll see what happens… I think the person I learned the most hands-on from is Stevie Nicks because she allowed me not only to co-write with her but also to produce her, and she's a true artist."



Crow is currently on tour supporting the release of her latest album, Detours.

Sheryl Crow revealed that she had been in talks to join Fleetwood Mac in some capacity. Now Lindsay Buckingham tells Billboard that while the idea has been floated, "I don't think anything is written in stone yet." "I think we were all a little surprised [Crow] was announcing that to the world with such certainty," Buckingham said. "We have talked about the possibility of bringing another woman into the scene to kind of give Stevie [Nicks] a sort of foil and shake it up a little bit. [Crow] was certainly a name that has come up. We'll have to see." He added that the band is considering a tour in the first half of next year, as well as the possibility of a new album.

shes playin here the 19th....i dont think i can go. of coarse lol....and i was mistaken where STEVIE is playing ....she is in Cinci (i posted the wrng venue in another thread. ..) dam i wish STEVIE , LISA, and SHERYL and HEART should do a tour omgosh they would have a blast ....or maybe i would lol....but THAT would be a concert ! miss CHRISTINE is retired.
