Scientology and NASCAR meet

What do Tom Cruise, Lisa Marie Presley, John Travolta and Kelly Preston have in common?

The Church of Scientology.

Now the religion commonly associated with several Hollywood stars will have another mainstream vehicle for publicity: NASCAR.

Californian Kenton Gray, who drives the No. 27 Ford in the Dodge Weekly Series, one of NASCAR's lower circuits, will be sponsored by Bridge Publications, which publishes the bestselling self-help book Dianetics, written by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Gray, who also is a driving instructor at Irwindale Speedway in Southern California, reached a five-year sponsorship deal with Bridge Publications a month ago, according to the Freedom Motorsports website.

''Through Dianetics I've handled stress and increased my performance and ability to compete -- both on the track and in life,'' Gray, 35, said in a statement.

Sponsorship for cars in NASCAR's weekly and touring level are decisions made independently. NASCAR usually only governs its three national series.

''We would certainly step in if we thought the sponsorship was in bad taste or not in the interest of the sport,'' NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said.

Danielle Methvin, a spokeswoman for Bridge Publications, said the company has been flooded with inquiries about the sponsorship but declined to elaborate on why it decided to enter NASCAR.

yeah...i had a friend that tried to get me into it about 10 years ago ...and he made me sick of it ..LOL...but since i dont have to listen to him anymore ...im gonna check it out LOL...*

Yes I would start w/Dianetics Actually that is the book I started with, another good one is "What is Scientology"

thanks ...im gonna start w/ what is Scientology ...since i understand the dianetics part of it really just from that friend constantly talking about it ...but he may be wrong so ill read that second. ...... i want to know the mission of Scientology you understand ...THANKS ..ill look for it ..and have you read it? and what is your take on it? ...miss suz ?...

I have read both yes.
I agree w/much of it, but like any religion not all of it works for an individual... Plus it's a self journey so what I think works for me or what I get out of it is not neccessarily what you'll get.

well ...the reason i dont like Scientology ...is becoz you re-hash the past so much ....that bothers me. ...but i may be wrong ....i do need help on how i react to people and my decisions tho lol....thanks suzana! **going to add cowboy hats to survey list** LOL

But u have to study ur past to know where the trouble is...things normally just don't "pop" up that bother you, it's something that's been building for awhile....JMO
