I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with a question about the free walk ups at Graceland.
I know that they have them during Elvis week in August, in the mornings and in the evenings, but does anyone know if they have them at other times of the year. I'd like to go to Graceland at other times of the year instead of August but it just wouldn't be the same if they didn't have these walk ups, only in August. Hello. to answer your question..... you can only go up to Graceland during August week, and sometimes they might have a Special Occasion where you can go up there for free. you can call Graceland and they will let you know. if you need the phone number e-mail me.

Thanks Teresa, it's a pity they only do the free walk ups during Elvis week, it would be nice if they did them all year round. Thanks for letting me know this.

Thank you Suzana and Dora for letting me know this. I really love the walk ups at Graceland as I find them very peaceful, and it is great that they still would have them in the mornings even if it isn't Elvis week. So a big thank you for letting me know this.

I did my first morning walk up during my trip to memphis last year...it was my first "morning" visit in the last few years...it was quite nice. Its a good stroll, and time to think away from the :busy-ness: the tour brings, and not a lot of ppl. Its cool to check out if u can. This is the first yr I havent been to memphis since 2003, theres still the rest of the year tho...

they have to have the free walk-ups in order for them to have permission to have graceland as a graveyard, since graveyards are public places--they can't be private. that was a stipulation in getting permission for gladys and elvis getting moved to the meditation garden from their original burials.

Thanks 4 the info Suz ... I think that a "walk up" would make the garden visit a little more intimate ... I have only been to GL once but maybe next time I will go bright and early

Your very welcome ...last time I went was in January of 83 and it was soooo peaceful and no barrier around the graves, just, I can't even describe it. I have been to Graceland many times,but this past April my brother in law & I did our first walk up! I Loved It! It was SO Peaceful.I'll def do it again!

In my opinion the best times in Graceland are the walk ups. They are so peaceful.
