Certain parts of my city are definatly safer than others, these days. I would recommend not staying in Whitehaven, if you can help it. Just outside of Memphis (maybe 30-40 minutes from Graceland) are areas known as Germantown. Germantown Parkway is the major road that runs through it and there are PLENTY of reeaaaally nice AND affordable places to stay. I recommend one called Studio Plus. They are an extened stay facility, with all the accommodations that feel like a home. There is a kitchen inside each suite. Best part is you dont have to have an "exteneded stay" in Memphis to get a room there. My godbrothers birthday party weekend was spent there. Plus that puts you right next door to our WORLD FAMOUS Corky's BBQ (which is a MUST eat while your in town). Studio Plus is about 5 minutes down from the I-40 expressway, so getting to Graceland, Sun Studio and other Memphis musts is a quick shot down the highway. Best part, if you accidently forget to lock up your car after bringing in the last of your luggage, you'll be able to go back downstairs the next morning and your car will still be there Wink
I love my city more than I could ever express but if anyone in my family came here to visit Graceland I would give them this same advice. There are just certain parts of this city that, for right now, are statistically not as safe as others. Beleive me, it.is.a.FACT,....sad but true
If you have any other questions regarding anything Memphis, please let me know

...hope that helps a little and good luck Big Grin

Heartbreak Hotel is AWESOME. They are probably the best hotel in that area. The accomodations are top notch and the security tower at the entrance to the parking lot certainly helps to protect the vehicles and property of guests. Im pretty sure they have been booked to capacity for EW for some time now but if your ever in Memphis, shelling out a little extra money for one of the theme suites is DEFINATLY worth the money. My friend/fellow graduate rented the Graceland suite about 3 weeks ago for our graduation party...Here are some pics she took of our suite

LOL,...thats awesome. I prolly wouldnt have recognized him in person either, dont feel bad Wink In spite of the rapid descention this city is taking, Memphis was...is...and always wil be a beautiful city. I actualy grew up in Bartlett, my grandmother use to live in Raleigh. Both, nowadays are without question becoming more and more unrecognizable. Crime stats are rising like CRAAAAZY out here. My godbrother has been robbed at gunpoint 4 times in the last 7 months on Elvis Presley Blvd. He works for EcoLab (commercial pest elimination) and has 8 jobs on EP Blvd that he has to service after they close. He called the police after every robbery and they showed up once. I do love my city and what it HAS represented but it has certifiably become a city where you just have to be AWARE of your surroundings AT ALL TIMES, day or night. Didnt use to be that way but hopefully its a phase in the growth of a promising city.

.....Thanks to those who offered graduation-congradulations Wink and thanks for checking out the pics, you guys ROCK
