I was 3 yrs. old, just moved to Toronto...sort of lost as to where I was, and on the radio I heard "Love Me Tender" and I fell in love with the voice. A few weeks later after my parents had found an apartment, we got our first TV set in our new home and new country, and on Sat. morning they played "Blue Hawaii" and I was enthralled by the beautiful man I saw on screen, and then I heard him sing and realized that it was the same person from the radio. The love affair started then and I'm a 42 yr. old woman today and that love affair is still going strong, my love still there, stronger still.
The memories of Tuesday August 16th 1977 are still there, not to far away, I remember like it was happening yesterday, memories I don't like but here they are upon me once more. I am so sad that you are no longer here, that you missed out on so much and grateful that I was around in your lifetime and remember the first releases, the interviews, the news stories that were actually "new" then and referred to as "history" today.
This world is a darker place without you but a better place for having had your beautiful soul in it.

I thank God for my parents for introducing me to your shining soul, I'm grateful that they understand this crazy love for someone like he were a part of my family but I've never actually met.

I hope that wherever your beautiful soul is that you know you are missed, forever loved, thank you for the many years of happiness you have given me thru your talent, your heart, your soul. I am left w/an indebtness to you that I will never be able to repay.
