i totally agree with u all on some degree, judging people on their singing is one thing, but their physical features is a whole different thing.
however, neither of the contestants that Simon picked on could sing. i just thought i should point that out. now for my real point: despite the fact that i do believe that it is wrong for the judges to act that way, i also think that the contestants need to learn that being treated like that is an industry reality. there are going to be people that aren't that nice, and who are going to judge solely on apperance. although i think that its not Simon's job to do this, i also think that these contestants need to grow a thicker skin if they really wanna go far in the business. they've all seen the show before, they all know what they're in for when they walk into an audition. ~ Fran a.k.a JadedAngel~ The JadedAngel has been Sanjaya-fied! your right lisajunkie,if they can sing or not they should not be made fun of for their looks!but w/that said the show has been on long enough that the people trying out should know what they are getting themselves into.i diffently know what it is like to be made fun of.i had to go to jr high school in a back brace & a body cast!i have an aunt that has a crazy eye & she made my neighbors a cake @ Xmas & the daughter would not touch it becuase of what the lady looked like,in fact that is one big reason i no longer talk to them.so no they should not make fun of peoples looks.but i'm still going to watch along w/alot of other peeps who wont admit it!

The auditions are bit cruel and they do go overboard. I don't care too much for the auditions piece of the show. The show does give everyday average people a shot at a record deal that they would probably not had otherwise.
