AROUND THE GLOBE, ALMOST IN EVERY COUNTRY THAT AWFUL SHOWS GOIN ON AND THE REAL MUSIC IS DYING,THE QUALITY DECREASES EVERYDAY IN SHOW BUSINESS ..GOD! HOW EASY TO BE AN IDOL THESE DAYS,YOU CAN PICK THEM ON A TV SHOW..ALL THEY DO IS BRAINWASH YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT EASY MONEY AND FAME AND THIS IS A CRIME!!!!BUT THE WORST PART IS,DISHONOUR THE NAME OF ELVIS AND GRACELAND FOR THE PUBLICITY OF THOSE SHOW..THEY GET ENOUGH RATING I'M SURE..WELL,I'M UPSET ,DISAPPOINTED AND SO SAD..

I agree completely. It is just my opinion, but the Graceland thing taking place for 4 people who may "make it" the easy way, especially when Elvis himself was a self-made musician, enduring many near-unheard singles, and touring his butt off. I think that with all this hype we lose track of what music really stands for, and what it really is.

JMO, no tomatoes please!! I maintain al of my respect for E, LMP, and Pris, mostly just not the industry, or society's "values" (or lack of)

well i thought that at first lighthouse...but ...also ELVIS was the first "American Idol" .

Zey honey try to think of it this way.

Think about all the people that are going to get exposed to Elvis' music that didn't listen before. It will browden his audience. That makes me happy to know that more people are going to see what they have been missing all this time.

That is how I am trying to look at it anyway. And I really think that Elvis would get a kick out of this. I think if he were there he would be all into it. To teach these people what all he learned. I think he would def take them under his wing.

but he was the real idol..can't compare him with any of this made up ones by that kinda organizations..

I think the fact is that American Idol is here to stay. It is the most popular show on tv. I think it is great that they are honoring Elvis, he was the orginal "American Idol"!

I do agree that it is sad that this seems to be one of the only ways for new artists to get airplay, and become stars. It is all about instant fame these days, and that is sad.

But I am glad they are honoring Elvis! Just think of all the young viewers who may have never been exposed to his wonderful music! They need to know what a talent he was! I am sure he will make many new young fans when they see the show, and that's a good thing!

honouring Elvis?? sorry but who are they to honour him..yes those shows are popular and this is the magic word,isn't it..Dora honey I'm sorry for being that negative but this is what I feel ..Elvis doesn't need such carnivals to get attention,yes he was helpful to other artists I know that, but this is nothing to do with it..and believe there aren't that much of "IDOLS"in this world and all is about building a media kingdom and money..

I'm no one closer to him than his family or ex-wife I'm just a fan and I feel I owe Elvis so much in my life so can't help sticking to my opinion..sorry.. and approvements in the business world is a rather complex subject..

I am not a major fan of Idol however ,I believe that because Elvis did work so hard for his career (from the ground up) and he was known for such a giving personality, that if he were still alive he would be more than happy to give a helping hand to any new artist. Fortunately or unfortunately music is all about progressing with the times. Elvis successfully did that over 3 decades 1st rockbilly and the birth of rock and roll, then movies with music with a 60's flavor and on to his ballads of the 70's.
And as said before if Lisa approves, who better would know how Elvis would feel, who are we to ask?
I think it should be awe inspiring for us, as fans, to know that almost 30 years after his death Elvis' music is still strong enough to be used as a standard for the rising talents of tomorrow!
