NEW YORK - Rosie O'Donnell says she will likely never speak to "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck again after an on-air tiff last week that led to O'Donnell's early departure from the show.

The former host of the ABC daytime chatfest says in a video blog posted on her Web site that she has never tried harder to be friends with someone, but she doesn't think she succeeded with Hasselbeck.

"I haven't spoken to her, and I probably won't, and I think it's just as well," she said. "I wrote her an e-mail, and she wrote me back, and there you have it."

The fight ended a colorful eight-month tenure for O'Donnell that lifted the show's ratings but no doubt caused heartburn for show creator Barbara Walters. O'Donnell feuded with Donald Trump and frequently had snippy exchanges with the more conservative Hasselbeck.

On Friday, ABC said O'Donnell asked for, and received, an early exit from her contract. O'Donnell said last month she would be leaving because she could not agree to a new contract with ABC executives. In the video blog, she said she never really fit in.

"I was really just like a foster kid for a year," she said. "I came, you know, we considered adoption, but I didn't really fit into the family and now it's time for the foster kid to go back home."

O'Donnell fessed up that chief writer Janette Barber drew a mustache on a photo of Hasselbeck at the show's studio before they left. "It was a joke on the way out," she said.

Calls to ABC and Walters were not immediately returned Monday.

The argument with Hasselbeck began Wednesday over O'Donnell's statement last week about the war: "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Talk show critics accused O'Donnell of calling U.S. troops terrorists. She called Hasselbeck "cowardly" for not saying anything in response to the critics, which set off their lengthy argument.

She is such a cry baby....geezzz....get over it Rosie.....she opens her mouth and says stupid sh it...and then when someone calls her on it...she gets mad...WIMP!!!!

I personally can't stand either of the loud mouths.

I like Rosie, but I saw the spat and I agreed with Elisabeth. Rosie is all about speaking your truth and not hiding. She is a grown woman who is usually more than happy to speak her truth but she changed the rules on a day she was feeling down and wanted Elisabeth to speak for her and EH didn't and all of a sudden that was Elisabeth's fault for not reading Rosie's mind or agreeing to change the rules and just accept the insults.

Instead Elisabeth fought back. It's regretable it went on for so long; the spat was clearly irritating Joy and the guest host but the network let it run because they probably saw big ratings. So they won the ratings and lost Rosie 3 weeks early.

If Rosie and Elisabeth truly had a friendship as they claimed I would hope they'd work thru this. But if not, that's that. Life goes on.
EH is having another baby and I'm sure Rosie has some interesting plans for her career.

I saw it that day too.I can't stand Rosie, and Elizabeth bugs too. Rosie is a very depressed person (as she has stated many times on the show) and takes it out in so many ways and on people, I think.Joy is the only cool one on that show. Glad her loud annoying mouth is GONE!

I know, Roseanne would scare the h.e.l.l out of them!! Just when u think u can pin her down she comes out with something outta left field and offends a whole other group of people LMFAO.

I like Whoopi Goldberg, but she gets a little boring on the show. It's like she gets more like them instead of being totally herself. You have to be very strong to be on that kind of show and not let your personality into a Oh, here I am in my nice outfit with these other lovely ladies, the world is mostly good, let's just have a giggle and a smile, sell a few products and go home.

Rosie brought the ratings up!! I rarely see The View, because I am working. I think Rosanne Barr would be a hoot! I kinda think this show will be having lots of different, temporary hosts for the years to come. Marie Osmond did a one day stint and was funny as h.ell! I think the hosts will be rotating to accomadate the ratings!
