Spears ordered to give kids to Federline

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears was ordered Monday to surrender custody of her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Superior Court Judge Scott M. Gordon ruled that Federline will take custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, beginning Wednesday "until further order of the court."

The order stemmed from an unspecified **** motion made by Federline's attorneys and was handled in a closed-door hearing. The judge's order didn't state the reason for the change in custody and all transcripts of the proceedings were ordered sealed.

Phone messages left for representatives of Spears and Federline were not immediately returned Monday.

Last month, Gordon said Spears engaged in "habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol." He ordered the pop star to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week as part of her ongoing custody dispute with Federline.

Spears also was previously ordered to meet weekly with a "parenting coach" who was to observe and report back to the court about her parenting skills. Both Spears and Federline must complete the court's "Parenting Without Conflict" class.

Spears, 25, and Federline, 29, were wed in October 2004. She filed for divorce last November and it became official in July. The two have joint custody of their sons, but Federline is seeking a greater share of custody.

Since Spears became single, her troubles have played out in the tabloids. First she was photographed at various Hollywood hotspots partying with Paris Hilton. Some photos captured Spears without panties. Then Spears shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella and ended up spending a month in rehab.

An MTV Video Music Awards performance last month meant to herald her comeback was universally panned. The following week, Spears' management firm dropped her and her divorce lawyer resigned.

She then was charged with misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run and driving without a valid license for allegedly crashing into a parked car in August.

Spears' new album will be released Nov. 13.

poor Britney, i hope she finally gets it together.

I feel sorry for her. Not that I think she's the greatest mom on the planet but I honestly feel she loves those children more than federline. He left his two other children and their mother for Spears. He is a huge gold digger and I don't know him that well but I get the feeling this custody battle was not for the RIGHT reasons where he was concerned. I hope she gets her act together too Fran and I hope in the future she will be able to mend her family issues and her own. Federline sickens me actually.

I really feel so sorry for Britney...I hope she gets herself better. It is so sad to see her like this.

I'm not sure if it is some innate sexism in me or what, but I actually think the kids are better with Brit than Kevin. Although I don't know him at all really, so I probably can't even say.

It's just a sad situation. Shows you all the problems that come from being irresponsible and marrying too early and having kids too early.

I'd sure like to know why the kids were removed though. Because we were just talking about this in my social work class with our professor, about removing kids from homes and how social workers really hate to do it because you're impinging on the self-determination of the parents and the kids and it's so disruptive for the kids to leave their home etc. and so social workers only do it if they think there is an IMMINENT danger to the kids.

Unless this was just the judge deciding and not involving DCFS at all. Because I thought DCFS just did an investigation and said nothing was wrong?

This is such sad news. However, I was thinking that this may be the wake up call she needs to get her act together finally. She will hopefully be motivated to get it together for her kids.

I agree Tx, I think this is a wakeup call for her. I think that this was the kick in the arse that Britney needed to see that she has a problem.

I'm glad the kids are away from her. She is out partying and doing stupid **** all the time instead of dedicating her time to the kids. She seems unstable and needs to help herself before she can care for two human beings.

i'll probably get my bum chewed out for this, but honestly, how long have you secretly been counting down until this action was handed down??? had britney not been a celebrity, those kids would've been taken away a LONG time ago!! not to say KFED is a saint or anything, but honestly, do you EVER see him parading his kids around in front of the paps???

i'm sorry, but i have zero pity for britney. she did it to herself, and only she can control her life. obviously, its out of her hands now as whatever she's smokin or drinking day in day out is taking over her life.

I agree violethurricane...very much so. Not that either is a saint but when you have kids you don't go partying every night, getting drunk and wasted on drugs.
I think any parent who uses/sells drugs w/small kids in the house needs the custody taken from them. If they loved them so much they would have put them first. JMO

I sure hope this is a wake up call, i loved Brit back in the day. I do feel sorry for her but she knew what was gonna happen if she didn't get her act together. I hope it all works out...

Oh well ~ even rich celebs have consequences for their behaviour(s) and actions .. it's about time. She needs to be accountable for her actions ...

I'm sick of hearing about her actually. I can't believe that someone with such bad judgement and immature behaviour captures all the headlines ... A comment on the world we live in for sure.

Britney didn't do anything that the judge ask her to do ! So why are you all feeling sorry for her it's her own d a m n fault !
Britney is to dumb that she is caught driving without a licence witch she was TOLD by the judge not to drive !!
She dosen't care !!
