Lisa , I have a friend , Tamara Lefers , Who is suffering of stage 4 cancer. She lives in the Netherlands & it is her last wish to visit Graceland. She has maintained an Elvis fan site for 7-8 years now with love & respect of your Dad. Drawing on only her very limited income. She is dying from the same disease that claimed her husband on Christmas day 4 years ago. I am a disabled veteran with only social security disability income , or I would GLADLY pay myself to get her there. I have sad news to tell you. If any of you have not read in the guest book where Tamara's brother (Lars) request for good wishes for his sister while she was in the hospital the first time AND also my reply to Lars where I joined him in wishing Tamara well and then told everyone what was wrong with Tamara and then later... my pray for her as well, this will come as a shock to you.

For the ones that have already read about Tamara.....there is still more sad information about Tamara.



Now even the ones that read Lars's and my entry in the Guest Book may or may now know the latest. I am so sorry to have to tell you more. If I had a way of contacting all of you I would have been updating you all this time right along with all of my friends AND internet friends, my family, and friends that Tamara and I share for from a MyFamily Website we had for years. We all now stay in touch through a Yahoo Group List.

Tamara and I said our good nights to each other on the this past Wednesday the 20th. She was having trouble breathing and had to have a fan blowing on her. This seemed to help her breath better. I had no idea that the next time we spoke would be from her hospital bed again so soon.

Now as I mentioned....even the people that read Lars's and my entry in the Guest Book may not even know this..

Tamara was diagnosed having Diabetes around Jan 23, 08. Then later that week they found a brain tumor. They had planned on doing surgery but first they wanted to run other test and also a PET scan and, because of something the doctor seen oh Tamara's lung...... lung ex-rays as well.



Tamara was to go back to see the lung doctor this past Thursday..Feb 21, 08 to find out the test results from the Pet Scan AND about her lungs. Well she saw him a day sooner ! Because after we had said our good night on the 20th she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. She was having trouble catching her breath and she was also chocking.

They found cancer in her lungs also. There will be no brain tumor surgery. This was Tamara's choice. Tamara has Stage 4 cancer.

I am having such a time typing this, everyone. Tamara is my best friend.... My VERY BEST friend. She has been through so much in a very short time.

Her vocal cords have been damaged from tubes being pushed down her throat. She sounds so bad, my_friends. For way over a week now she hasn't spoken above a very low whisper. It's been hard hearing and understand her BUT...I have.



I though maybe typing by Instant Messenger would be easier for her BUT....her eyes have suffered from all of this as well. She has worn sun glasses inside for way over a month now and even with the sunglasses she still has a very hard time seeing. Her vision is very bad. God love her, she really has been through it. It has gone from BAD to WORSE.



Tamara said to me yesterday on her cell phone from the hospital that her cancer is the same type that killed Bert (her husband) just 4 years ago on Christmas Day. Melanoma cancer. That's the fast spreading kind, I do believe.



I am so sorry to have to give you such sad news about Tamara but I felt you deserved to know. Tamara is fighting for her life. She may be weak as a kitten from all of this BUT she is still very strong willed and strong minded. She said she was not about to let this take her. NOT with out a fight.

Listen, my_friends....DOCTORS......DOES NOT HAVE the last word...GOD DOES ! And Tamara knows and believes this. Tamara is also STRONG in her FAITH !



Tamara said she wants to get OUT of the hospital and get on with her life. She said that being in the hospital was only holding her back. She wants to live her life to the fullest. She wants do so many things. She is talking of selling her house and getting something smaller. Now "ME" ..personally I think she should not be alone. She promised me she would give this some serious thought.



When Tamara found out she had Stage 4 Melanoma cancer, one of the first things she mentioned was she was going to cross that ocean with Doortje (her daughter) and come see me. She has planned this for years. Also we have planned on going to "GRACELAND." This has been a life long dream of Tamara's. She is still counting on this.



Now I want to see Tamara face to face more than anything in this world BUT, I mentioned to her that I was scared for her to make this trip. It might not be the best thing for her. BUT she is determined to do so. She said as soon as she gets stronger and is able to travel she WILL be crossing that ocean. God this is so hard !!!

Mean while please be in some serious prayer for our very on Tamara Lefers. Tamara is and always has been and always will be....."My Little Dutch Doll." She is the sweetest and most kindest, and most giving of herself person than anyone I have "EVER" know.

Tamara I love you, my precious friend. I love you so much and you know my heart is with you. I am with you in spirit holding your hand this very moment. I am always praying for you regardless of what I am doing. I am her for you, Sweety. Always !!!!!! God loves you and HE will "not" forsake you.
