I kind of agree with you LHS ... I feel that there are definately too many of these 'talent' shows nowadays (here in the UK they're everywhere) It's true these sort of show have been around for years, but now a days... its not so much as having a passion for music (bar a few exceptions who really only go on these shows because they have tried everything else in order to fulfil they're dream) it's more about the fame and celebrity that surrounds being a 'pop star' or whatever... its not about the craft of music which saddens me because it take so much out of what music can be (though it could be said that the music industry as always been about being in the cash)
It is sad to think about how much Elvis had to troop through in order to be taken seriously etc. and it does seem these guys (and others before them) are getting a free ride to the spotlight ... to get that 'free ride' I guess they have had to work hard... I dont know...I'm not a big fan of 'reality shows' per say anyway... but I do like to see new talent being brought to the service because there are talented people out there who just didn't get they're break til shows like this came along...
