Pink withdraws from Joplin race


Singer Pink has apparently dropped out of the race to secure the role of Janis Joplin in the proposed biopic of the legendary rocker's tumultuous life.


The 'Stupid Girl' singer claimed that her withdrawal was motivated by the fact that the casting process had become a "circus" after she was named alongside actresses Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan for the lead role in 'The Gospel According To Janis'.


According to TeenHollywood.com, director Penelope Spheeris felt Pink was the first choice for the role.


However, Pink says she has now "dropped out of it".


She explained: "They're trying to turn it into some circus pop contest - who's the 'it' girl who wants to play Janis? Janis was so much deeper than that

Good for her ..... That would have been a great rold for her ~ but I'm glad she stood her ground ~ Janis would have been proud!!

Since the release of her last album I have a new found RESPECT for P!nk .... I hope her tour for this album stops in Toronto!!!

They think Lindsay Lohan can do Janis! I'm sorry if there are LL fans on here, but I just don't think she's Janis material. She's nowhere in the same ballpark to Janis! Does Scarlett sing??? Oh, I just remembered, this is acting so they can act like they're really singing LOLOL!!!! Pink could've actually sang, go figure...

They should leave well enough alone, you can't better the classics like Bete Midler in The Rose. No one can come close to Janis than Bete.

I agree!!! Bette did an amazing job!!!! And I dont know who could of come close.. I think Pink would have done it justice tho And I dont think she would settle for less..In her honor.

I so hope they dont make a mockery of this flick by using some teeny bopper.

I will be difficult for who ever plays Janis. A lot of Janis fans will be waiting and watching to see who.
