that never brackets understanding

implode

searching for wisdom

as the little girl

upon hearing the word 'Heaven"

recited in an innocuous poem

clamps her tiny fists

over her ears

shuts tight her large eyes

and scream-hisses

"O no, not Heaven!'

As I realized that---

Heaven---

was the great golden beast called reward

the cloud-frilly rubicon

the lavender and blue angel-spitting device

that had all of her loved ones

sitting eyeless, speeechless, touchless

--breathless--

in its gaping maw full of golden thrones

of

never-come-back-red-velvet-elsewhere
