Not all progress is good.
Wrote this last night after a discussion on modern culture and the news that an 11 year old girl just down the road had hung herself & committed suicide Change – The ebb and flow of tides Malnourished of continuity, Washed up on shores etched With regression and Primitive displays of injustice – Life for a lie, Truth for a Tortuous stream of tears Cried by a hurting generation Of painted smiles And plastic faces, Masking the struggling inhibition Of youth ready for transformation, Drowning in a societal sea Of forward-marching conformity And all-encompassing despair; Lost like the hope of A newly sprung stream – Flowing – Yet soon dried out by Progress. |

****er punch is right. i didn't know the kid, but it just makes you think, y'know?
i work alongside the church that's responsible for the little village where she lived. Supposedly i'm impacting the lives of kids her age. Some impact. It's not even a drop in the ocean compared to what these kids need. |

One dop leaking through the dam Chester, will erode a way through. The trick is, to Never.Give.Up.

i guess so. It's challenging, though, knowing that it's still not enough.
By the way, read this: http://www.24-7prayer.com/cm/resources/28 ..i don't really know why. i just thought you might like it. |

Give me your hands coz you're wonderful. Axes fell a tree swiftly, but the rings inside were tended with great care. Those little drops throught the dam,...call them axe prevention. one drop...is infinitely better than NO drop.
just ask a man dying in the desert. Pen's right - you do more than you know...who knows how many suicides you PREVENTED...you may never know, the individuals may never tell you. I have heroes and mentors and semi-saviors I've never had the opportunity to thank or tell how much they meant to me...just imagine all the babies you're helping, not the one who wouldn't accept the help. I know it's hard, though...I'm sorry this happened. The poor baby. I <3 you ---------------------------------- For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy. - Saint Therese of Lisieux it's my shop! www.breelash.etsy.com |

That is an amazingly touching piece. I love your way with words it is just so sad that it comes from such a tragic and all to common tale. I certainly understand the feeling of insignificance and that your efforts are only a "drop" I feel that daily in my work as well but you have to remember for all the ones we lose there are also the ones we help. And to those we are able to help it has made all the difference. The following quote is my favorite part I think But the whole piece has such a moving message.
Thanks so much for sharing with us and for all you are doing to make a difference in this dark reality. *Cause I'm not doing fine I'm drowning in my mind again* *Maybe I'll stop wondering when I'm gonna die. Maybe then I'll stop holding so hard to my life. Maybe next time I see my reflection my mind won't be with me* |

My work is a little different than yours I would think but if mine is done with the right spirit it can be along the same lines. I work for child protective services. So I try in my little way to make things better and safer for our children. I try to help the parents see and understand how important it is to protect their children in whatever capacity that means for their situation, whether it mean quiting drugs, getting out of abusive situations or other situations that would put their children and themselves at risk. Unfortunatly I see many failures in my work but I also see some success stories and that is what keeps me doing this.
