Running through a forest and tearing through a dream.
Hiding from the future, trying to escape yourself.
But no matter how far you run there you are. There you are.

I found an old photograph,
one of those family things from '93.
The golden sunlight in my mohter's hair
and the last smile i've seen my sister make.
And there i am, so little and pure,
no one told me it would be this way.

That photograph lies like people lie
and that bloody perfection has to change.
I wish i could penetrate that photograph,
and walk the road i didnt take.

I bet it's a road illuminated by the morning rays and children laughing.
That child could have been me.
When did i lose that moment?
That instant in time and space.
If only i could have taken a still shot of my mind before it was polluted with conformity and pain.

I tire of running from myself.
I pause to catch my breath.
If this life is only as real as i make it,
maybe i can find my way.
i see sights i did in that photograph
i smell the same scent of life refreshed.
Only my mind has changed.

Give me a memory, give me a moment, give me that crumpled old picture to show me the way.
I'll climb, climb back through time, undo my mistakes and never feel shame.

If i ever reach that day of redemption,
and stand side by side in that portrait of perfection,would i still recognize that beat guilty face?
Could i alter the path i wanted to follow, would i want to ever change?
Would i rather my soul be lost in between and i look back fondly on my photograph days?

Running from my future, running from my past, running from myself.
And losing all the photographs.
Nothing and no one to lead me back
and losing all the photographs.
