My daughter came home today asking me if she can go to a school dance with her friend and her b/f and do u know how old my daughter is ?

My daughter said her friends have cell phones 8 years old with cell phones ?

I just don't get the cell phone thing and why parents are buying them ?

There is no way I am getting her a cell phone .
She can just wait til she comes home and then call her friends all she wants ..

I think it's just like eveerything else, people want the best shoes for their kid, or the brand name jeans, people who are just that materialistic and beset upon by peer pressure to have the "best"..phones, rocket launchers,lol, it doesn't matter what it is really, it's just gross cultural retail imbibment.Right you are, no bf's at 8!! yikes!!

When you give your children everything they ..
A ~ They don't take care of it
B ~ Expect you to buy them everything
C ~ Doesn't learn how to be responsible

My rule of thumb is ..
If you want a cell phone when your 16 then go get a job and then buy whatever cell phone you want but just remember your paying the bill .

I don't understand my daughter's friend's mother ..
How she lets her daughter have a boyfriend ?
I don't even know this woman , never talked to her on the phone and I know in time her daughter is going to want to come over and then I will have to talk to her mother and get to know her if they come over ....lol

Well all I know is my mom did everything for me that I eneded up not knowing how to even write a check to pay bills my mother took my pay check or my money I was making under the table and gave it to her and trusted her to take care of things ..

Up intil I was 26 year old .

I want my kids to be able to take care of themself because I am not going to live forever and I want them to be strong and to know they can make it on there own .

I just don't want them to end up like me ...
I think parents think they are helping but what she was doing was hurting me in the long run .

My mom too,you're so right. Good for you for seeing what needed to be fixed and being able to do it, people who are capable of changing bad patterns in their collective environment will save this world.
