In what, for her is obviously a desperate act of disfrugality, ( which you good people will pretend is a word for a couple minutes, I beg of you) and hunger, my mother walked into the house, located me, and demanded I order some Chinese food.

I finished up avoiding the duties I wasn't doing and did so. I chucked my wallet by the front door as I walked by into the kitchen. Mother is already sitting at the dinner table and reading her latest library find, some Nora Roberts novel. Yay. I sit down and desperately try not to cough, as I've already gone the hernia hell-route once today. I shuffle a deck of cards and play a swiftly losing hand of solitaire when something out the window catches my eye. One of the neighbour's cats is scaling their barn. It's..a ..HUGE barn. It's going right up the side.

"Look." I said to mom, who glances up and out the window to where I'm pointing. The cat is halfway up the edge of the barn, all spider-daredevilly styly. "Ooh, kitty." She says , back in simpletastic, non-demanding mom-form, and is out the back door before I can say boo, and is off to taunt the kitty into probably falling off the edge of the barn in come-hither-and-play with my simple child-like self fashion.

I watch for a moment and kitty is undaunted by my mothers unforeseen companion-advances and makes it to the top. Is prowling along the tippy toppity roof crest. I decide this is picture worthy, so I get the camera and go out too. It's 50 degrees, but the wind is a *****, and making it a lot colder than it should feel. Mom at least threw on her nylon shell jacket, I am in no shoes and sweats and t-shirt.

The cat prances and preens, dazzling it's meager audience. It slips a little, just for us.. and sops up the according "woahhhhs". It's sitting still and then does this kitten hop, and lands the other way round on the thin crest, which at that moment seemed a lot thinner til it had come back down safely.

In unison:
Mom: "Woooow."
Me: "Woooow."
Unknown deep resounding voice: "Wooooow."

I turn to my immediate right, and there is a tall man wearing a bright red "delivery express" shirt, holding a bag full of steaming chicken, rice, tofu and veggies. Well, I hope anyways, if it were a random delivery guy, that'd be uncanny. He stood with my mother cat-agape, whilst I ran in for cash.

My evening.
