I cry and they know
my spirits in the night I fall they hear me and they turn on the light I am hopeless and they find it my last ray of sun I am happy and they feel it it catches them one by one Could I find a tighter vessel To sail across the sea Could I find a heavier armor To cover the best of me? If I saw you for the first time stranded across the desert sand Would I walk on over and offer an outstretched hand? If I heard your cries alone in the hallway late at night Would I crawl inside your room and hold your body tight? If you and I were left alone The chairs and our bleeding souls Would I comfort you and talk awhile Or would I go on home? If you ever regretted my friendship my love or my respect Would you really ever treat it With such arrogance and neglect?
