Hi!

I wrote this after the funeral for my Aunt who was more like a mother to me. She died the day after Christmas last year. Let me know if you like it please!! Thanks!!



You Will Go On

We were there to say goodbye,
Feeling so much loss & pain.
Underneath the darkened sky,
Listening to your beloved sound of rain.

We all looked out at your favorite pond,
Each in our own worlds thinking of us & you.
We could picture taking one of the walks of which you were fond,
The sky was gray & somber, not even a wink of blue.

As we were waiting for everyone to arrive,
We watched the ducks & geese gliding on the water.
They reminded us of wonderful times we shared when you were alive,
And knew that this pond would always be here for your daughter.

Everyone who loved you was standing there that day,
Wishing we could turn back time to when you were here.
Thoughts swirled in our heads, not knowing what to say,
Every drop of rain mixing with every tear.

We said a prayer & tossed your ashes,
Then slowly, gracefully, along came a swan.
And as we wiped the sadness from our lashes,
We knew you were telling us, you will go on….
