Black trunks scarred across blank white heaven
black ink strikes,an upward gift of thorns from the dark earth itself
The huge pines wield their shipwreck grandeur
swaying branches (spell) casting fistfuls of wet diamonds against my humble window

days like this rebuild myth and prayer
strike fisherman dead
ancient with monsters anew
crush the inland with boughs of unkempt lullabyes of fury

I stay inside
listening to squawks of crow-distress
black wings banking constantly against countless tides of thrashing slate and periwinkle
I remember so clearly, things I've never been through
I stay wrapped/rapt just beside the window on the short bed in a grey blanket
I stay warm-fingered with cupfuls of bad-lung-remedy and flutter-dove-like brain geishas
The storm fragments into mini-squall offenses
strategic hisses and two points of deadlight where my distant gaze sprouts eyes

Inside I am disrobed
dismantled
untethered
the storm is howling wet and unthundered
I am perched at the foot of it's appeal
unsacrifice in a dark room offering up no candlesmoke
no canticle
all swollen feet and catharsis
I drown in slow mouthfuls of ice
unconscious caution like gruel

I am the barefoot mythmaker
tentacle not-caught, cauldron-spent witness
to just another crock of storm
simply not come for me.
