Stream of thought excercise ****. Sunday, December 31, 2006


I am slowly regaining consciousness,lying face down on a cold wet hillside, pine needles clinging to the cheek that was closest to the ground,forest debris on my pale lips, my forehead creased with a deep line.What was I looking for?

My brain begins to narrate itself in an old movie actor's voice, Jimmy Stewart, or more likely Orson Welles.

I'm wearing a blue wind-breaker with white stripes on the sleeves, my hair is so wet that it's curly.

The flesh of my fingers aches.have i lost my way, was there a monster, what gives, why am i lying here,with the bright white string ties of my jacket catching my attention like this.What in all hell was I looking for, Orson says, whispery, rosebuddy.

No thunder,no lightning,no musical underscore.Bland part of the movie this, me waking up, dazed,rained on.The reader (YOU,poor soul,if you have one) thinking ,why didnt they keep this **** to the good old paper notebook they're so goddam fond of, not that you knew that about me.Did you.Privvy to the shapes and shadows at the forest edge that I am oblivious to, you either cheer or grimace ,given your positive or negative outlook on this little mindplay.

I call out as something bites my sneaker.I am taking pictures in my head, I hear the shutter crashing in slow motion.My side hurts as I am dragged along the brutal forest floor,my jacket ripping, my soggy blue jeans getting soggier.I hear dragon throats making dragon sounds, feel tree trunks shake as great wings cause a turmoil of air and eclipse the dying sun.

I found what I was looking for.

In a blood-stained melody of effort.

Haha, it's okay. it's kind of a 'gone, but not forgotten' type of thing indefinitely. just taking each day at a time & enjoying/appreciating everything else in the meantime. if that's what you were referring to. i don't want to crowd your post though, lol. hope you're doing okay! your writing is always amazing!
