Moving On

Exiting my fortress
Finally overcoming my test
With emblazoned scars on my chest
She was my greatest love
Ordained from above

But unfortunately she chose to leave
An left me all alone to grieve
Neither of us are really to blame
But because of her I will never be the same

I have been able to find temporary relief
In the midst of all my grief
Because of the truth and honesty
I have been able to face reality
To accept myself for me
For all the world to see

Even though we are apart
She will always own a piece of my heart
Although she is gone
I must move on
But not without leaving a crack in the door
Just in case she wants to come in once more

Because deep down inside
There is a feeling I can’t hide
I know our time together
Is not over
We had to take a break
To review our mistakes
We had to let go
In order for us to grow
