So i have been woking on this story since april 2003. on and off i have been typing it out. so today i go to open it and there 2 of the same file. so i start working on the 2nd file of the story (if this makes since) because it had more to it. so i typed some real gooood dialgue between 2 kids at least like 5 to 7 pages maybe 10. i got to save it because its been dsaved tonight. and some of the pages come up blank and some pages have " x's and squares and circles" "like alien writing" after i tried to save it and it would not let me it had to "revert" so good news is.................... i still have my story why am i angry???? cuz i lost todays work and the work i put into it the last time i was working on it. So because i was livid mad and dead tired and in tears (kinda) i took notes on what a wrote tonight and what i worte last time. do i know what happened??? No
might some of you??? i dont know and sorry i made a thread i was sooo angry and i know it could be worse it could have been a term paper or my whole story (lmost was the whole story cuz i lost the 2nd file tonight) ugh it was cute the dialog awe i know it will come back to me not the same though

*hugs* i have no idea what happened, i have seen files before when it has come up as 'aelien[sp?] writing' but that has been when my pc has crashed and they have been recovered files or something

awwwwwwwwwwww so sorry about that, Capri Computer stuff sometimes pisses me off as well....I don't really know what happened there...can I give a little advice..next time when you type, save it every like two lines....that way if something crashes, you will have lost only a small part....that's all I know to say to help...*hugs*

yea, make sure you save regularly. even thou i do spreadsheets all day, everytime that i remember i save my work, especially if i have just updated a lot of into at once

even if you dont save every 2 lines, at least try and save after each page or 1/2 a page. it makes life a lot easier. i have lost work so often by simply not saving it!

yeah good points but thats what i was saying is that i had been saving it and i left for like an hour
and it would not let me save anymore i nneeded to revert it i was like was i scrool on that 2nd file to find blank pages and squares and circles i dont think it had anything to do with saving i think some how it got duplicated and i was working on a damaged file. i still have file 1 of the story thats where i have to re work some stuff ugh its confusing

i think its just cuz it was like 2am here and i was real tired......... at least i did not loose my whole story dont get me wrong i am still greatful i just cant pin point what happened............ if the file was bad to begin with thank i had another file ugh
but that does not make since i hope it did not get enfected

so i am very angry again i want to yell shout curse and throw my computer out of my window.
why am i not doing any of that right now??? because i have riding her about saying hell loooooong story so i made another thread one again about this same story and thread i just want to work on it but my computer acts up when i open it

any important work documents that i have that i think might get corrupted or changed i save into a totally different location, idk if your pc will have enough memory to let you do that thou. it means that even if your files gets corrupted, or the folder gets corrupted, you still have a copy somewhere else
