1 week ago my kids got out of school at noon for their winter break. they didn't have to go back until yesterday (thurs). Sunday morning my 4 year old woke up with a cough and runny nose. i didn't think anything of it. When Monday morning rolled around and she had a 102.5 degree fever and horrid cough. . .and I was having trouble breathing. . .I had an inkling that things were gonna go downhill fast. Took her to the dr, he said she has viral bronchitis and the town is full of it. lovely. by nightfall I was giving myself breathing treatments with the nebulizer and my hubby joined me the next day. we were running lovely high fevers and could barely breathe. He called a P.A. friend of his who said that this stuff was all over town and that in all the tests it was coming back as RSV or influenza (WHY did we not get flu shots????) She said 5-7 days before we feel human again and up to 2 weeks before we're back to normal. I can't repeat what I said to that!! On Wednesday my 7 year old got it. . .but she recovered very quickly. the only one unaffected was my 10 year old. . .and he so smartly pointed out at supper last night "I think you guys made some god mad and he's punishing you!" Hubby and I just looked at each other and replied "you got that right!" So it's now Friday and i think i'm fever free (thank god) and I can walk across the house without passing out. . .so I think i'm getting better!!

But now, about that midget-itis. . .yes, my internal midget is inflamed. no, i haven't lost my mind. . .but i am about to become shorter than my son. . .and i'm in SHOCK. I knew i was in trouble the other day when hubby says "does he look like he's finally getting taller to you?" Well, it was confirmed this morning. I walked up behind him in the kitchen this morning while he was searching for breakfast and i couldn't see over his head. I flipped. (WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?) I said "hey you, feet together and back up, i need to measure". . .and i discovered the top of his head hits above my eyebrows. I never thought he'd be taller than me. . .which was a delusional thought since i'm barely 5'3" on a good day. . .he thought my fake hysterical crying was insane. . .i think he may have called the men in white coats to come get me after he got to school. . .because when he put his shoes on and i discovered that he was only about an inch shorter than me. . .i totally lost it. . .

OMG!..Min sorry to hear that but it's everywhere.. I can hardly speak ..mine took 2 weeks no need to mention the terrible headache, than it turned to laryngitis ,I lost my voice totally, which made me mad for a week since it was impossible to shout out a curse while watching the news on tv (I usually do that specially when I see a politician on TV).. hope things get better for you all ..hey! your son sounds cool.

My daughter never grew taller than me, but wow she is so much more grown up then I was! LMAO ..... so i def can relate.

lighthouse--you don't fill me with much hope! LMAO! my poor voice sounds like hell. and yet, my mother keeps calling me. . .and is then mad because i'm not talking much. . .

lil--all 3 of my kids are more grown up than I am! esp. my 7 year old. she's always rolling her eyes at me and then saying "you didn't just say that, did you?" while we've been sick i got her hooked on "Starting Over" and we were watching it today and she says "why do all those ladies have issues with their mothers?" and I about cracked up! I told her to wait a few years and she'd understand. . .

Yes Syd--it does bite. i'm not a patient person. . .and being sick like this drives me crazy.

lmfpchick--RSV is horrid. my son had it when he was 5 months old. our dr suspected it and sent us to the hospital for tests. everyone was gowned and masked and treated him like he was the plague. we managed to keep him from being hospitalized but it was a grueling couple of weeks while he got better. very scary.

it's some **** bug that in healthy older kids and adults usually presents as merely a cold. but in babies--esp. preemies or older adults or those with bad immune systems. . .it can be deadly! it really messes up the lungs. . .

that flu is going around, I just got over it and had it real bad, and I never get sick.
