I thought it would be a good way to share recipes and try things from around the world

Chicken and Pastry


3-4 lb. chicken
1 cup chopped celery
6 cups water
2 cups plain flour
3/4 tsp. salt
Pepper as desired

Put the chicken and celery in the 6 cups of water and boil about 30-45 minutes until done. Do not skin the chicken. Remove chicken from liquid and allow to cool. Meanwhile mix the pastry. Sift flour, pepper and salt into mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of the broth from the boiled chicken into the flour and mix with a fork until a stiff dough forms. Place on floured surface and knead slightly. Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into approximately 1-inch strips and drop into the boiling broth. Do not let the broth stop boiling while adding the pastry strips. After putting in the last piece, stir very lightly. Let cook on low heat for 15 min.

That sounds good an it makes me want chicken an dumplins..lol

This is more of a what to do with the leftover turkey one but it's amazing..lol I could live off of this. I add cheese to the top sometimes too.


Turkey Casserole

Leftover Turkey Aprox 4 cups.

1 Can of condensed cream of chicken soup

1 box stove top stuffing

a half soup can of milk

a half soup can of water

Tear the meat into smaller pieces an layer it in the bottom of a baking pan. Fix Stuffing as directed. Put soup in a bowl and mix it all up with the milk & water. Put the stuffing on top of the turkey & then add the soup on top of that.Bake at 350 till the top is bubbly.

Desserts are my specialty so here are a few..lol

Black Forest Cake

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 box vanilla pudding

1 container of cool whip

1 can of cherry pie filling

1 jar of maraschino cherries.

Prepare chocolate cake mix according to directions & bake as directed, after cake comes out of the oven spread on cherry pie filling and cool. After the cake is cooled mix up box of pudding as directed; fold in coolwhip. Spread the pudding mixture over cake & top with the maraschino cherries. You can eat it while it's warm but its better after it's been in the fridge and chilled a few hours.

Chocolate Candy

4 cups sugar

1 can cream

2 sticks butter or margarine

1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips

1 small jar marshmallow cream

Mix sugar,cream,and peanut butter together in a cooker,bring to boil for 5 mins. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and marshmallow cream stir then pour in to a 9x13x3 inch pan.

Friendship cake..my grandma makes this every year and its amazing..she ices it in cream cheese icing..mmm

FRIENDSHIP CAKE STARTER 1 (16 oz.) can fruit cocktail, 1 (16 oz.) can peaches, 2 1/2 c. sugar, 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, 2 1/2 c. sugar, 1 (8 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, 2 1/2 c. sugar,

Combine fruit cocktail with juice, peaches with juice and 2 1/2 cups sugar in large jar. Stir with wooden spoon until sugar is dissolved, cover. Let stand at room temperature. Stir each day for 10 days. Add pineapple with juice and 2 1/2 cups sugar, mix well.

Stir each day for 10 days. Add cherries (cut in half) with juice and remaining 2 1/2 cups sugar, mix well. Stir each day for 10 days. Store in refrigerator. May store in refrigerator indefinitely. Yields enough for 7 cakes.

FRIENDSHIP CAKE:

1 (2 layer) pkg. white cake mix, 1 1/2 c. Friendship Cake Starter, 2/3 c. oil, 4 eggs ,1 c. chopped pecans Combine cake mix, Friendship Cake Starter, oil and eggs in bowl, mix well. Stir in pecans. Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Cool in pan few minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Can be baked in 2 loaf pans.

STRAWBERRY PRETZEL SALAD

My specialty..lol..everyone always wants this.



2 c. crushed unsalted thin pretzels
3 tbsp. sugar
3/4 c. melted butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese
1 c. sugar
1 sm. pkg. Cool Whip
1 lg. pkg. strawberry Jello
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries
1 sm. can crushed pineapple

Mix pretzels, 3 tablespoons sugar and butter. Spread mixture over bottom of baking dish. Bake at 400 degrees for 7 minutes. Let cool 1 hour.

mix cream cheese, 1 cup sugar and Cool Whip and drained crushed pineapples, spread over pretzel mixture. Dissolve strawberry Jello in 2 cups boiling water. Add frozen strawberries. Chill until partially jelled. Then pour over the cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate. Use a 9x13 inch pan or baking dish.

Its so good..I think the 4 cups of sugar helps.

Probably gonna try it for Thanksgiving.

Yummy...just be sure to let it come to a good rolling boil for 5 mins or you'll have to eat it with a spoon..ha ha..nothing wrong with that though. still awesome.
