We get this fab idea: road trip to see not one, but two (count 'em, TWO) Lisa shows in one weekend ("You're stalking her," says my practical friend). My road dog and I load up - cameras, film, clothes, film, and off we go from Nashville to Columbia. We stand in line outside in subzero weather for over two hours. I could not feel my fingers, toes, or other delicate body parts. "NO CAMERAS" bellows the venue Nazis. Ah, hell. That's cool, cuz the show was SO GOOD I screamed til my lungs bled. We waited in the hopes of meeting Ms L but no go.
The next day: 6 AM and off to Ft. Wayne. Lousy fast food coffee, more subzero (we fight over the temperature in the truck. I hail from TX, my road dog is from up North). My practical friend calls: "Does Lisa Marie's staff know you are stalking her?" On the way to Ft Wayne I get a picture of the St Louis arch. Hey, you gotta have some pictures. Night of the show, more subzero weather. We call first. "Can we bring cameras in?" "Only disposables." We RUSH to KMart and spend 30 minutes carefully perusing the perfect disposable camera. One each. 48 pictures, is that enough? At least two hours in line outside before the staff tells us we're in the wrong line. They also tell us, no cameras. Lots of bad words. The people in line are cold, hungry, camera-less, and there is no booze. "There's going to be a murder," I muse, "or a riot." Finally we're inside, show starts, we're on the second row. I scream myself hoarse, until my throat bleeds. After the show, we tried to meet THE STAR. No go. Security runs us off, even though we try to appear as the meek, nonthreatening fans we are. "You were stalkers," my practical friend insists, "they knew it."
OK, so we travelled from Nashville to Columbia to Ft Wayne to Nashville. We stood in line a total of 5 hours in weather that made my thighs numb (Mt. Everest in February is warmer). We got one picture and that was of a tourist attraction that couldn't sing or dance. But Lisa, you were fabulous. Both nights. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
And I promise, I am not a stalker.

I loved your story! I would have loved to have gone to these shows as well especially at Columbia... but there is just no way I could sit/stand out in that cold, because of my health. I will always have Dallas and Kansas City though!!!
