I'm at the hospital right now....Robert called me a little while
ago..and said that Dr. Phillips wanted to speak to us..with some potential good news.... Turns out that a baby who is waiting for a heart/lung transplant...has a heart coming...(there is nothing wrong with his heart at all....) They usually do heart/lung together...SO...that means that he gets the heart/lung..and Kayla will get his heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot tell you how ecstatic we all are right now...I've been crying...but this time it's tears of joy!!!! The doctors said that this is not a usual scenario...but then we all know that Miss Kayla has not done anything "usual" since she's been born...lol She's not out of the woods by far...this could be what they call a "dry run"...but I know that God is watching over her..and has his healing hands on her. Please pray for the doctors that God will guide them to do all the right things...please pray for Kayla and the baby boy to be strong through all this....and mostly...please pray for the family of the baby that was lost that is donating the initial heart. God bless them for making that life-saving decision...at such a heart wrenching time.... Okay..I'm crying again...so I need to get off here..and get back with Kayla..before she goes into surgery...Her operation will start approx. 1 am (eastern time...) Please keep the prayers flowing...GOD IS LISTENING...and we're coming through to him LOUD AND CLEAR!!!! Love to you all!!! Sherrie ----------------------------------------------- Kayla has a new heart!!! And it's working!!!! Jason, the little boy who donated his heart to Kayla...and he got a new heart and lungs is doing fine as well!!! If anybody ever tells you that God doesn't listen...KICK THEM HARD!!!! Because MY GOD is the awesomest God EVER! I cannot at all begin to explain to you guys what we're feeling right now...I just thank God so much...and I cannot ever thank Him enough...or put into words what He means to me...and how grateful I am to Him. I'm so grateful to all my Elvis/Lisa family...for your diligent and LOUD prayers to God....never doubt that He listens.....That's a given. Lots of prayers are still needed....but I know that He will answer them as well. It is His will that Kayla and Jason go on in this world...and I'm forever and ever grateful to Him for that..... Love you all, Sherrie and Miss Kayla....(Mamaw's angel girl...and our Elvis angel) ----------------------------------------------- I just wanted to let you all know...that Miss Kayla and Mr. Jason are both doing WONDERFUL! The doctors are amazed at both these babies....they are truly MIRACLE babies.... They did take Kayla off the ventilator this afternoon...only to put her back on tonight...because she has such a bad temper..and she's throwing fits...and she loses oxygen when she does that...so they put her back on the vent temporarily...until they can get her calm. (I'd be throwing fits too...lol) This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. When I first went to see Jason today...I got this overwhelming feeling in my own heart...I feel like he's my "grandson" in some way....his family feels like our family now...we will be forever bonded with that child and his family. They gave us our precious angel girl back. I want to thank you all again for all the prayers....I know I don't "have" to...but I WANT to...becuase I just want you all to know that you mean the world to me...and this has been the hardest, most emotional time EVER of my entire life...and you have all been there for me through it all...and I'm so grateful for that. I love you all very much..... Thank you all.....Sherrie is going to print all this out and save it all for Miss Kayla when she gets old enough...so she can see how everyone prayed and prayed for her to get better.
She is a special angel...for sure. Sherrie said tonight that her and Jason were doing great...... They want to always keep them in contact so that he will know the first girl to ever have his heart...... Channel 6 in Ohio is doing a peace on Kayle and Jason..I will def keep you posted on it. They may be on Good Morning America.
