the fan in my harddrive is making a loud noise?
i think i have bugs in my computer, cause i don't have protection. maybe i will ask Santa for a Norton!
does anybody have a fan on their harddrive? I have a Dell Demension and it's only a year old.
any suggestions for help would be good.
I'd appreciate it. I have defraged and scan disk.?

Just take it out and clean it, ít's probably dirty.

Pam you can dowmload free anti virus annd fire wall from zone alarm labs this too might be a good idea

could be a virus or a bad or loose cpu fan pop the case off turn the computer on and see if the fan is moving if it is shut it down ground yourself good and check to make sure all screws on the fan is tight if it is it could be a baring going outta the fan fans are pretty cheap but if it is bad and you run it like that your taking a chance of burning your cpu up and those are far from cheap
Dutch has a good idea too but if ya clean it use a can of compressed air don't put water on anything in there lol

I had that same problem and at first I didn't know what it was so I called my Uncle and he came over and cleaned it for me but, even after he did that it was still making that loid noise so I had to send it in for repair and it turned out the CPU fan went bad. So try cleaning it first and if it is still makes the noise your CPU fan may have gone bad. Keep us posted.
