Our 12 year old German shepherd, Jetsam, had to be put to sleep today due to heart complications.
If you're thinking that is a strange name for a dog, let me tell ya where the name came from. There is an 80's metal band called Flotsam & Jetsam. We had another German shepherd who we called Flotsam..together they were "Flotsam & Jetsam". Flotsam passed a few years back. Just figured I'd share some pics that I have on my computer. In most of the pics, his eyes are glowing! He was a very sweet, loving, & protective member of our family and will be sadly missed.  last Halloween  Jetsam & CoCo  Flotsam & Jetsam and a very young Sebo  having some early morning coffee by the pool w/ Jetsam & CoCo      - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Music has always gotten me through life, particularly honest, real music. ~ LMP LMFP P!RATE MAF!A ~ check it! |

I don't know if this will help or not but it's always been a comfort to me..
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. that was just beautiful..brought me to tears. he's definately gone to Rainbow Bridge to be reunited w/ his old pal, Flotsam. One day, I believe, we will all see eachother again. Thank you for sharing that w/ me Ducky. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who believe's in a place like that.

Awww chick I am so sorry.
in four days it will be a year that we had to put one of our dogs to sleep, so I know it's a hard thing to do. My thought and prayers go out to you and yours during this time. Ducky thanks for posting that saying I tried reading it allowed to my husband but well couldn't get through it for the tears.
