I just got done watching an Indi movie called "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" and this man floored me. He is a manic depressive who also is extremely talented at drawing and song writing. The reason behind the movies name is because Daniel has an obsession with the devil and think that demons are after him. His singing is not what you would call good, but the words are so powerful and raw that it does not matter. He really got his start here in Austin, TX back in the late 80's, but due to his extreme mental problems he was in and out of Institutions for almost a century. His drawing are very dark and reflect his mind thoughts in the captions and are very in demand. Daniel loves the Beatles, loves drawing comic book style and loves making his own movies. The movie early on shows Daniel as a kid making a home movie with his brother. Oh and the late Curt Cobain from Nirvana when he was still alive always photographed wearing a T-Shirt which had Daniels first album cover on it and the band "BECK" is a fan of his musica as are many other celebs. I highly recommend checking this movie out for yourselves. I am at the moment looking to try and purchase some of his tapes (he still makes them himself and they are not on CD's) and artwork.
