Gee where to start,Last weekend took Panda to the vet, because he has been having trouble with his breathing, He's been acting normal and purring and walking around, picky eating and loving me, went to vet and he said he has congestive heart failure which is fluid around the lung and heart. His breathing has been deep and alittle quicker then normal. So he is on pills right now, I think he is alittle better but not much. Took him to vet Fri. for a check up and vet isnt happy with the results he was hoping for more of a improvement. He then said he may have a disease, the lining of the lung or chest I'm not sure which he would have to take fluid from lung to test and if it was then there wouldn t be anything he could do. Right now there is nothing else he can do for Panda, we are hoping for the best, so far his coughing he hasnt been doing as much depends on how he lays down triggers it. I'm really worried and pretty upset because in my heart I dont think he has long to go but I could be wrong I hope I'm wrong because he is my boy. These past two weeks have been very difficult. And the thought of losing something so precious and dear to my heart just breaks my heart. I'm trying to stay positive but it so hard. I broke down at work this week, I try not to think about it, just doesnt work.

Now for Ralphy, yes I have two very sick cats at the moment. Ralphy went into vet Tues. afternoon and ended up staying he was dehydrated,his kidneys werent working and his digestive system wasnt working, and he lost 2 pounds. We thought he might have problems with his blood sugar because of the way he was acting. Which vet confirmed and he said this could be the hole problem which snow balled so he was on i v all week and we went to visit him Wed. and Thurs and I took him some treats and my hat to stick in his cage. He was peeing and having small bowel movements on his own. But not eating, so Thurs I went to grocery store and picked up a variety of cat foods wet for them to try. So he started to lick the juice which was a good start. Fri. we brought him home, well about 1.5 hr after we got home he went into a episode which we phoned vet to confirm and then gave him corn sryup to get him out of it. He came out of it and then began to eat finally which is a good sign. So we've given him more insulin today. Because it is important that the kidney's dont **** up any fluid to dehydrate him. His kidneys are not perfect and are healthy enough to get him by so this is important, so we will be trying to get the right dosage of insulin for him, we have a neighbour that will be looking in on him during the week while we are at work. So the vet said he has done all he can for both cats and if they can hold their own then things will be good other wise we will have to put them down.
So this in mind,,, I've never cryed so much in my live.I know they are getting old they are 15 and 16 yrs but it doesnt make it any easier they are our babies and I would do anything for them. So we are sleeping downstairs on the floor on a mattress to keep an eye on things this has got to be the most worst time of my life having to go through this, I've never really lost anybody that I really loved. Some of you may be thinking its only an animal well our cats are part of our family as if we had kids and its all the same. Anyway that is where things stand, it would be so much appreciated for your prayers and good vibes they are really needed. Thank you for all of your support, you guys are the best.

Sending out prayers that they will come out of it and be alright. Lost our kitty a few months ago and he was 18 yrs. old. I know what you are going thru cause they are like your own. Take care will be thinking of you.

our furry loves are just as important in our fams as all our other family members. so sorry yours are having these problems, b1. prayers to panda and ralphie that they get better soon!

our pets are like our kids, my cat was sick last year.
Now i have another and i pray they still stay healthy

Awww poor Panada & Ralphy I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers as well as you. Our animals are just like kids and it is tough.

Update on the babies, Ralphy's blood sugar not under control yet, he started eating more, so now he gets two needles a day. He had his enema today which he wasnt a happy boy, He had to have a bath when he got home, he messed in the carrier. Poor guy. Panda goes Thurs. to have fluid taken out of his chest, to hopefully ease his breathing, vet said this would be temporary, my thought was he get some fluid out and he has been on water pills for about two weeks so I thought it would regulate a bit, worth a try. So that is happening at 4pm on thurs, it will take an hr, he wont be put under the vet said he wouldnt make it if he did that so I will be staying there, until it is over then bring him home. So hopefully nothing will go wrong in this procedure if it does then I will be there. I'm trying to get Friday off so I can keep my eye on him,its short notice so we'll see. Anyway lots of prayers and good vibes are needed our way. Thanks so much everyone.

So sorry to hear all this is going on with your cats, Julie. Your a devoted mom to them, and they are very lucky to have you. Ill pray for them and for you to have strength during this trying time. *hugs*

Its so sad to see your pets sick... I would never make a good veterinarian because it breaks my heart too much.

Thanks guys, today which is tues. Panda has been on half pill 3 times a day since Sat. today I'm noticing a slight improvement, so hopefully it will keep improving and he wont have to have that procedure on Thurs. crosssing fingers. Ralphy hasnt had any episodes as of yet, so I will be phoning vet tomorrow to see when he wants to recheck his sugar. So I think things are looking up, I will know more on Thurs

Phew finally some good news, Panda went to today for his procedure, and the vet checked him out first and said he didnt need it, he was really happy with results, and said his chest was alot better. And he said he doesnt think he has that disease of the lining of his lung or chest. So he goes back in two weeks for a check up, and vet wants to decrease his dosage on the water pill. He will be on recovery diet for 20 days, this is a specialty food for animals that are recovering from surgery etc. I went and bought Panda a lollipop for being so good today, not a ****er its more like and automated water dish that keeps circulating, Panda needs lots of fresh water so this will cover the 8hrs I'm not home and then he can play with it to if he wants. Got to find out if the salt content in our bottled water is ok for Panda, Panda is on a no salt diet or is about to head that way. Once the 20 days is up we will be discussing a new diet its for heart and kidney disease. I am SO RELIEVED I dont think I could handle any more bad news. So thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. At least we are heading in the right direction and I hope it keeps heading that way.
