The weather is really getting bad, huh? We had a hail storm here in Arkansas about a year ago. Hundreds of new and late model cars and even trucks suffered severe hail damage. Several windshields were also lost.

CHICAGO STRUCK BY VIOLENT STORMS

Between 3:00pm and 4:15pm CT, the Chicago metro was absolutely pounded by intense, violent thunderstorms. The majority of the storm damage was due to destructive winds on the order of 50 to 70 mph winds.

Throughout Chicago, there have been damage reports of widespread felled large trees (some over 100 years old), blown out windows in skyscrapers, power poles and lines down, semis and cars blown off roadways, roof collapse, building collapses, and finally home and building damage mainly due to fallen trees.

Hey Guys, boy we are counting our blessings today, cuz we missed a monster of a storm by just 20 miles. Those poor people are still without electricity, and the damage....well, I've never seen anything like it, like some freak hurricane barreled thru the northern suburbs and Chicago. The store has been crazy busy with peeps buying everything from bags of ice to batteries. We were plowed cuz ours was the only store in the area that had a generator, so we were like a beacon in the darkness. It was scary driving around fallen trees, and the dark that night, and I even saw coyotes roaming the streets!!!!!!!! and then to the north of us, Wisconsin...Thank God, for us being in this little pocket of safety.

It's so obvious to me that our summer weather is changing....More violent storms!! More floods too....Is winter also going to change? By this I mean, are we going to witness four foot snowstorms in some places where this isn't common? Yeeeks!

Something I worry about: Remember the slow response in New Orleans? What would happen if we had a great Earthquake? Something similer to a hundred years ago. They say the Mississippi river ran backwards.....What would happen if we had a violent winter, then comes the terrible quake knocking out electricity and gas everywhere in central United States? Bridges collapse everywhere! No trucks get through to deliver much needed food...The National Guard is still tied up in Iraq...My God, this would be a recipe for a disaster like America has never seen....I heard an energy expert say the otherday that a really bad power outage could last two years before power could be restored...

Let's hope this never happens...

Ps....Remember the Donnar folks of the 18 hundreds? They ate each other up! Couldn't you imagine this, NO FOOD, NO HEAT, NO GAS!! Remember the crime in New Orleans? I think it would come down to, Only the strong would survive such a disaster.... Those with guns could protect their families, and others with guns would simply kill to feed their families.. What a nightmare!!!!

That's what The Donner Party thought. They got stuck in a snowstorm and began eating each other to survive. Is something like this possible today in our times..Four feet of snow, a sudden Earthquake in central United States, bridges down everywhere, No heat, NO FOOD, No gas and air planes trying to fly food into millions of cold and hungry people. After the New Orleans disaster I believe anything is possible. Bodies lay floating in the water for weeks, and violence was also out of control... This was only water. Some people didn't get any food for quiet a while there either. I honestly believe 'now' that super disasters are very real indeed...
