The U.S. government is trying to decide whether or not to put polar bears on its list of endangered species because "global warming is melting their icy habitat." Meanwhile, the same department within the government – the Interior Department— has offered up some of the polar bears' habitat as a place to drill for oil.

So the department of Fish and Wildlife Service is going to decide whether or not polar bears are endangered or threatened ... and then the department of Minerals Management Services wants to explore 30 million acres of polar bear territory off the Alaskan coast. Guess all that red tape made it difficult for two offices within the same department to communicate with one another. But, that's government for you!

Interestingly enough, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin does not favor listing polar bears as endangered ... and this is in her own state! She points to the obvious statistic that there are more polar bears today than there were 40 years ago. Thousands more.

And when it comes to the oil, it's no surprise that "conservationists" sued the Minerals Management Service for approving similar oil and gas exploration in a different part of Alaska last year. The conservationists argued that the decision was made without "fully analyzing the potential environmental impact." Because just remember, there may be 3 endangered species of newt or mussel that could go extinct. What a loss.

Remember .. the true goal of many of these so-called "environmentalists" is to slow down the American economy, not to protect the environment. Many of them are old, tired communists and socialists still nursing hurt feelings over the collapse of the Soviet Union and their dream of one world under communism.

The Interior Department still hasn't decided the endangered status of polar bears ... therefore environmentalists are going to sue. You do know that we have thousands more polar bears now than we did 20 years ago, don't you?
