We're loosing about 5 to 10 of our soldiers each day in Iraq but the war goes on.
Now that the mine has killed 3 of the rescue men, the operations "as far as digging is concerned" has been halted because of the danger. What's the difference? The mine can take your life just like Iraq can. What if those 6 miners are still alive and they're sitting there right now waiting to be rescued. Shouldn't the rescue people figure out a better way to brace the inside with better timbers and keep digging?
Confused

are you in utah??
apparently the news is reporting different than what i hear in utah. obviously, it is a danger-in fact any mine is dangerous. i'm all for finding the miners dead or alive-and yes you have a point about iraq. but i'd like to give out my point-how can we expect to win this war in iraq when we cant even protect our own from dangerous things from happening??

i believe they are still drilling the 5th hole, and it should be known whether or not they see any signs of the trapped miners.the families of the miners are actually getting ready to pull up a lawsuit against Murray and some others. it's just a sad situation where when one wants to become a hero, sacrifices his or her own life, actually does more harm than good.

I couldn't agree more, violethurricane...What had me so upset was, we're loosing several troops a day in Iraq, but when the rescue miners were killed they suddenly said, "Woe, hold it! That's too dangerous! Maybe we should leave them in there."

This sounded terrible to me... I suddenly asked myself, "Hmmm, why are those rescue men more valuable than those guys in Iraq." Ten troops die in Iraq and then suddenly the generals send in twenty more. The troops seem to be expendable. In my opinion, if we're going to send miners underground to work then we should get them out if something ever happens. We went to the moon, sent a rover to mars, and even split the atom, but we can't dig the miners out of a hole? There's something terribly wrong here. I believe those miners who died trying to rescue the men are real American heros....They gave their life for someone else.

OMG........They`re lives are not more valuable than those who serve our country. They were doing their job. They knew there were dangers involved but, they probably never expected to loose their lives.

The men and women who serve our country, put on their uniforms each day knowing that they`re putting their lives on the line. They know the unexpected can become reality and they are prepared for the unthinkable.
That`s the difference.

Are you implying that those who serve our country are not heroes?? If so, we have a problem...
