What the hell is she thinking??? She's only 25 and has ruined the rest of her life!

OMAHA, Neb. - A female teacher and a 13-year-old boy believed to be on the run may have crossed the California border into Mexico, a police investigator said Friday.

Paul Schwarz of the Lexington Police Department in Nebraska said the white Pontiac owned by 25-year-old Kelsey Peterson crossed into Mexico around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Peterson, a sixth-grade math teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School, fled with the boy after police began investigating whether the pair had an intimate relationship, authorities said.

Authorities believed the two were traveling together in Peterson's car, and police nationwide were notified about them. Court documents said the boy was last seen Oct. 26.

A judge issued an arrest warrant Monday charging Peterson with kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

That is insane! and we send our children to school and think they are safe? WTF?

I can see why many parents do home schooling for there children ,you can't trust ANYONE !

I'm glad more people realize this is child abuse. In the past, when an underage male had sex with an adult female it was seen as "getting lucky." When a person is in a positon of trust and engages in sexual activity with a minor it is child abuse, regadless of gender.

I'm also glad more people realize it is ALWAYS the adult's fault and responsibility. Position of trust and authority + sexual activity with a minor = criminal activity. PERIOD!!!

Yeah, not being sexually abused is a downer, huh? Sorry Quinn, know u are joking but IMO sexual abuse isn't funny. It doesn't become OK or cute or sexy when women are the abusers. I've known MANY people, men and women, who are suvivors of abuse and trust me, it ain't funny.

I don't wanna sound like...oh this happens all the time but...you know how many guys brag that they lost it at 14 and 13, like it was the medal of manhood?? These women do have a HUGE PROBLEM,don't get me wrong, but the guys, probly get a slap in the back by their buds for bagging the older hot broad.

^^^^ I know, LJ, and I think it's part of the problem and shows how our society remains kind of messed up when it comes to s.e.x. in general and sexual abuse in particular.

Many of these young boys are probably thinking they're "supposed" to feel all swaggery and 'yeah man' about it and instead when they feel hurt, betrayed and confused they can't always admit it and get support for it 'cuz male peers and even some grown men are like 'yeah, messed up, but it was good, right?'

I just hope, and I'm sure it will happen, that our society will continue to evolve so that we move past the whole s.e.x. eqauls good for males all of the time, even when it's with a predator.

It's better than it was years ago, for sure, but we have a ways to go for seeing abuse as abuse for male and female victims, not abuse for females and "scoring" for males. Just think, was not too long ago before some sickos got free of jail by claiming the female child/youth "seduced" him.

Sorry for the rant, lol, just an issue I feel passionate about. And Quinn, did not mean to pick on u. I hope u didn't think that.

If a boy is 13 or 14 and an older woman uses him, that is abuse. If a guy is say, 16 0r 17, he is gonna love it, usually, and when the teacher is caught the only thing concerning him is, where is my puddin?

The boy in this case is 13. In cases where the student is older, it's still an abuse of power. Enjoying something doesn't make it right.

LJ and Phonelines, I agree with you both. I am pretty passionate about children. I was a certified Guardian Ad Litem in South Florida for the 17th District for about 1 year. It is a volunteering position as a child advocate for children who are abused, abandoned or neglected in the courtroom. This is something I wish to do again when I have more time(after I finish raising my own, which is a handful for a single parent!)
