Saudia Arabia has ordered a 19-year-old rape victim to undergo 20 lashes for her "crime." The crime of being raped. Isn't the lovely, peaceful, serene, compassionate religion of Islam something wonderful to behold?

That is a shame, but I don't neccesarily think it is just the religion Islam that can be blamed. It is a fundamental belief in that particular religion and also the mentality. It is unfortunate but we can look at each religion and see extremists and fundamentalists in each.

There are Christian religions that ban Harry Potter books etc etc etc and the beat goes on.

What is sad is how women are viewed but this happens in America still also to this day. There are movements in Saudia Arabia in particular who are lobbying for women's rights and addressing these issues within their capacity.

Kind of like our court systems, who mentally lash the victims on the stand, making them relive what happened in front of a roomful of sometimes unsympathetic people and then not believing them on their way to defaming their character.I'm sure some of them would prefer some lashes.Sometimes courts don't even allow the word rape, in honour of the suspect not having been found guilty yet.What else should they call it.Naming the crime doesnt touch someones innocence.If someone stole a car. should they not be allowed to say the word steal?Ludicrous.Victim of a rape, then a circus, even though she swore on the Bible to tell the truth.Is that church or state, or are we just all muddled up there.Rape seems to be an atrocius act that snowballs, then even the 'good' people jump on the bandwagon.The pain only seems to escalate with each bit of help.

yea, I read it was 200 tho, and even some of the government folks protested!!!!!! I can't believe how primative these people are!!!!!!!! I worked with a Muslim guy, nice guy , but when we started talking about religion and the rights of women , I almost strangled him!!!!!! All this sheit about women belong in the home, to serve the man, and he thought that my having my own home and my own car, etc, was all just to show off!!!!!!! and THEN HE SAYS...My religion is a beautiful peaceful religion...LMFFFFFFAO!!
