This is speaking about the electors. NOT the citizens. There is a differnce....

A portion of Article II, section 1 of the Constitution was superseded by the 12th amendment. Passed by Congress in December, 1803. Ratified in June, 1804.

UD I can appreciate your view but the arguement is sort of moot at this point. My point in my post was this...there have been amendments after the fact that ensure voting for women , so I am a woman I am entitled to vote under Amendment 19. This is an old debate that some still bring up but there is Supreme Court rulings that have set a precedent. The electors of each state is what it says in Article II, then we would have to go to each state and define electors. But in a democratic society it is a given that voting is only the norm.

There are other issues that we all can make a difference in IMHO because in the real world to challenge that we can't vote or "if" our voting rights were taken away, defer to the Amendments made after the original Constitution which would then imply the right.

Just thought some of you might be inerested in this tid bit of info: Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has written an article entitled "The Right to Vote." Jackson writes: "And yet the right to vote is not a fundamental right in our Constitution." I guess that you folks who have been saying otherwise (and Miss Cynthia Tucker)are right and the Congressman is wrong...right? Jackson has introduced a voting rights amendment in the congress. Now just why would he need to do that if the right already existed?
