But that's not the point. Many people who comment on the video call her a racist asian b**** who is "trying to be white."

just what is THAT supposed to mean!? that being white constitutes the projection of racist attitudes? They talk about the error of stereotyping and profiling, yet they DO it when they accuse others of "trying to be white."

I'm sorry you guys, it just makes me so angry to sit in a college classroom and watch my professors endure being called racist for enforcing due dates on their assignments and the like.

In my school newspaper, I learned about the creation of "the ujima project" at my school for "underrepresented groups." The question is why in the statistics asians and whites received more awards and got better grades than african americans and hispanics did, and the article never answered that question in the paper. The article hints at how performance is lagging for those groups because they are underrepresented, and I thought, how are whites or asians "represented" in our school in the first place? They're not! Our school is completely diverse with all kinds of people around, and everyone with the same oppurtunities to succeed.

I'm afraid that this group, while it may help them in school, is teaching them a little bit more than good study habits - the article, which I hope to get posted, is scary in that it talks about how those "underrepresented groups" in our school are being held back from succeeding for "reasons that are not known yet." I'm not saying that prejudice and racism don't exist in these environments - as a homosexual male, I KNOW the pain of being stereotyped, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I need to do to succeed.

That article is an insult to members of those "underrepresented groups" who have succeeded at school and in society, which I'm sure all of you have friends or relatives (or even yourself!) as examples of success , and that my friends, is not an example of their "trying to be white." It's an example of doing what everyone else has to do to be successful, functioning person in society, and I'm tired of hearing in my history classes people saying they have to conform to being "white" in order to succeed - whatever that means.

That was my whole point of bringing up the comments on youtube to that particular video - so many people are afraid to say something for fear of offending or getting the masses against them, but I'm someone who wants to eliminate division and separation of ethnic groups, and I get that feeling when people make groups at school based on their ethnicity. I don't believe we can truly have that unity of the melting pot unless we truly respect each other's differences - not accusing people of "trying to be black" or "trying to be white."

But tyra did a show on names....... ppl of almost every race were given names of dif. origin pretty much those were names of little kids...... basically over the names they called out, wh..ore, ghetto, upity, higher class, lower class, must be asian, must be black, must be white, cheap and what not and it was such a grrrreat show. there were sooo many great points.... ppl were turning it into a race issue and these were just over names...... and ppl on the show were calling out racism. finally the pannel (sp) were shown that they calling out little kids, that did not pick their names. what is considered a white name, black name??? ECT. ppl say this all the time or quit acting like you are white and quit acting like you are black? what is considered acting like white and black... why is that an issue?
