can anyone answer why the stars on the logo are upside down?? I got this direct from Wikipedia, and no I didn't photoshop it. I beleive those are Pentagrams if I'm not mistaken.

The elephant in the symbol was first used in 1974 when Democrats tried to scare voters into thinking that President Grant would seek a third term. A cartoonist named Thomas Nast who worked for Harper`s Weekly I believe, depicted a Democratic jackass trying to scare a Republican elephant. The stars represented......ummmm I`ll let you do some homework on that one.
